Devon Area Report
May 2017

A historic day in March - TSSC won the inter-Club skittles for the first time! Playing against SOC and the Dolomite Club at the Westward Inn at Lee Mill, we were down slightly after lunch but, having time to play an extra end, we won by only 1 pin after a playoff between SOC's Bill and our very own Maurice.

Next game will be in November at Zeal Monachorum when we will try to retain the trophy!

We were delighted to see so many at the Claycutters in March, with predominantly Spitfires in the car park. New to our meeting was newish member Lance, and we hope he enjoyed the welcome. Gren & Mandy were there and the next time we see their Vitesse she will be sporting her new facelift and a sun roof, and we were pleased to see TR4 Brian back again. Sam was sporting a very smart eye patch courtesy of Jaz - anyone got pics? A busy night as usual, with lots to talk about and try to organise.

A wonderful spring day for Nigel's birthday run to Haynes Motor Museum for their Breakfast Meeting. A total of 16 Triumphs, including a couple of Stags from Devon sac, met up at Exeter Services, together with moderns of Andy and John. Welcome to Alan & Chris recent new members, and also to Brian, both bringing their TRs along for the first time. Andy W brought his GT6 (we did not like to remind him of the last time he attempted this run!); it was lovely to see John B and Jerry prior to their next trip to France, and young Robbie brought Dad Russ along, On the road we picked up Janet & Eric and despite some taking an unplanned detour en route, at Haynes we met up with Peter who had gone straight there, and the Monmouth Mafia too. So many wonderful cars in the car park to admire before 18 of us toured the museum which I think now includes more Triumphs than it did previously. A wonderful day, the sun came out and it was tops off on the way home. Thanks to Nigel for having the birthday and the idea.

With a group of us as usual joining the Isle of Wight weekend at the beginning of May, there are shows aplenty to start enjoying with both Denbury May Fayre and Uffculme shows that weekend.

On Sunday 7 May, there is the first of the two Southwest Triumph Meets - this one at 11 am at Route 5 the American Diner at the top of Haldon Hill. Just turn up with your Triumph to show and chat. Andy Moss will have reserved some tables for food too.

Devon Area Club Night is as usual on the 3rd Wednesday of the month, so Wednesday 17th will see us back at the Claycutters Arms at Chudleigh Knighton, with a big car park and great food.

The second Bank Holiday weekend (Sunday 28) sees the lovely Pecorama Show at BeeT where we are joined by Somerset and often Dorset rnembeis. and on the Monday (29) there are small ws a Paignton and also at Kingsbridge. Hope you have sent off your registration form for the West of England Gathering at Martock, 3 and 4 June, organised by Martin Hughes, AO of Somerset Area - sounds like a good weekend and hope to see you there.

On Fathers Day 18th June we have Trains & Triumphs again at the Sourh Devon Railway at Buckfastleigh.Numbers may be limited this year due to ongoing building works, but we are hioping that by mid June they will have completed. Please do let us know if you want to come along - just in case!
